my mom and i were talking today about how next summer i will be 18 and she said that just thinking about it might make her cry.
that made me think about how much more it would hurt her if i quit being a jw.
i really do love my parents, i know they are just being cruelly manipulated by a cult and that they really think they are doing what is best for me.
You do not have to quit being a JW; just cool it slowly. Community, family and friends are very worth the tiny sacrifice (in my case, of course).
My hubby, family, and life-long friends are so very worth it. They are the nicest, most wonderful and fun people I could ever be surrounded by in this journey of life.

Be careful of not becoming a self-fulfilling WTBTS prophesy, you know, the throwing out the baby with the bath water that so many do upon leaving the Org. So, many go on binges of such proportion that they get used as an example of what "NOT" to do.

I would respectfully ask my parents to show you first the video to see if you approve of your child viewing it. A lot of the videos are very good lessons about how to get along with others and behavioral stuff.
Also be prepared to counter the indoctrination with reasoning a child can understand, like how fun certain celebrations are, etc.
If parents do not heed your words, there is always strictly supervised or minimum visitations.

years ago when i was "in" i loved the book study.
it was my favorite meeting by far.
mainly because it was a small group.
I was here and thought it was all made up. When it was announced in the KH, I was so happy that I could not stop my ear to ear grin. Same when it was announced that the small assemblies would only be one day each.
I just really hate meetings of any kind. I am quite a happy hermit. The times I fake some illness and stay home from a meeting, I am so very happy in peace and quiet at home! JWs are much too social a group for my style.

the boy and his grandfather were jehovahs witnesses and they were on field service when a car drove into them.
the lad, who is the son of an elder who moved to a cambridge congregation to serve where the need is greater, was on life support before the sad decision was made to turn it off.
So, his elder father moves to a congregation to help out, and the reward from our loving, merciful, all-knowing Father is.... the tragic death of the child and the grandfather.
Gotta love that Jehovah!!!
